Oooju's the Gerber Baby!

A couple of old ladies were looking at Oooju and commented that he looked like the Gerber baby. I think the Gerber baby is adorable so it made me really happy. However, I have to admit that most of the time, Oooju does not look like the Gerber baby (just check out the pictures in the other posts). But here, I think he does. Way to go Oooju!

Superman!

Oooju does this new thing where he raises one arm straight up. I don't get it but I think it's totally funny. He usually does it while sitting in his favorite bouncy chair and while getting his diaper changed. I think he's caught on that I notice when he does that so he'll stop doing it right when I see him do it (he's a punkass). So it's been really hard to capture it on camera. But here are some shots I got.

Here, he's just straight up flexing for all the ladies out there.

Happy 3 Months Birthday Oooju

Oooju is 3 months old today. Now that he's a big boy, he can do a lot more. Like yesterday, he could sit by himself on the couch. Yay!

And here he's doing his favorite thing: kicking back with a Coors Light. He's definitely our son.

Funniest Video

One day, I saw this on tv and thought it was the funniest thing ever. Just thinking about the little guy climbing the pole made me laugh for days. The end is just as funny.

Which bands have you seen live?

I got this off of Jenny's Blog

Here is how it works: copy this list; leave in the bands you've seen perform live; delete the ones you haven't, and add new ones that you have seen until you reach 25. An asterisk means the previous person had it on their list. Two asterisks means the last two people who did this before you had that band on their list.

1. Sonic Youth
2. Morrissey
3. Blonde Redhead*
4. Beastie Boys
5. Nirvana
6. Bjork*
7. Beck*
8. Portishead
9. Pavement*
10. The Killers
11. Bikini Kill*
12. Slick Rick
13. De La Soul
14. Daft Punk (is this considered a "band"?)*
15. Stereolab
16. TV on the Radio
17. Boredoms*
18. Air
19. Rage Against the Machine
20. Yeah Yeah Yeahs
21. Ramones
22. No Doubt
23. Violent Femmes
24. The Cramps
25. Unwound*

I'm just glad I got three new bands that formed after 2000 on my list. Nate and I are going to see Tegan and Sara next month. We're not completely old geezers yet.

Tubba and Oooju

Very first picture together: 2 and a half minutes after Duff was born. The nurses made Nate pose with the baby.

At my parents' house: Soon to be our house as well. Look at how tiny Oooju is.

Together at the Getty Center: We discovered the Family Room when I needed to breastfeed Oooju. We ought it was like a lounge/family bathroom. We had no idea it was an artsy funhouse for kids.

First time bonding together in the Baby Hawk: This is when I found out that Nate didn't know how to tie knots. He says he never passed the knot tying badge as a boyscout.

Favorite Outfits

For a week now, Oooju has been real fussy between 7-9pm. It totally sucks. It's just adding to all the stress I already have trying to write my dissertation proposal. Anyways, here are some pictures of Oooju in some of my favorite outfits.

My cousins Jane and Grace got this jumper for Oooju. I like it because it reminds me of Bruce Lee in his yellow jumpsuit. However, Oooju's is way cooler because his has a unicorn and rainbow on the back.

I bought this onesie because it reminded me of Edward Hopper's painting "Gas Station."

Petit Madeleine

I have a new mania for madeleines. Today when I went to Starbucks for my daily coffee, I saw them and decided I had to have one. I used to work at Starbucks for about six months and never once thought of eating one, which is a shame because they're so delicious. Well, I enjoyed my three petite pieces and it made my coffee that much more enjoyable as well. So being that it's my new mania, I decided to do some research on it and it's just amazing how the search for a pastry can lead you to so many different places. It started off fairly normal with a wikipedia search. Not satisfied with the picture on that page, I did a google image search for "petit madeleine" and found this picture on a japanese page

But what caught my attention on the wikipedia entry was the section about involuntary memory and Proust's In Search of Lost Time. Yet again, I was not satisfied with that entry and searched more and found this:
Unusual experiences led Proust to "the truth of involuntary memory," the basis for his life's work. The famous incident of the petit madeleine revealed to him a past lying dormant within him, ready to be called back to consciousness. He was able to retrieve "a feeling of inexplicable happiness" when his mother offered him the little plump cake. He was illuminated by a childhood memory (of Combray), where his Aunt Leone on Sunday mornings used to give him a madeleine, dipping it first in her own cup of tea. It "all sprang into being, town and garden alike, from my cup of tea!"

It was on a secular humanism website. I remember a guy talking about secular humanism on bill moyers, but I couldn't remember his name so I searched PBS and found this on Faith and Reason. I still can't find this guy who was a scientist and secular humanist and I'm tired and it's getting late. But anyways, he believed that secuar humanism was going to save the world, or at least stop global warming or was it terrorism.

Go Coors Light

In the July issue of Consumer Reports, the magazine rated Coors Light in the can number 4 in the light beer category, only to be beat out by Michelob Ultra Amber, Michelob Light, and Michelob Ultra. Some of the beers it beat out were: Sam Adams Light (5th), Budweiser (6th), Bud Light (8th), Miller Light (11th), Labat Blue Light (16th), Heineken Light (17th), Amstel Light (18th), Corona Light (19th) and Beck's Light (last place).

So in honor of this recognition, here is Tubba in Montreal in front of a Coors Light billboard in French.

Duff and Lucas

Lucas is Robert and Hazel's son. He's totally cutie. We like to think of Duff and Lucas as best friends, but there are a few minor problems in their relationship. First off, Duff doesn't know that Lucas exists. And Lucas probably wishes Duff didn't exist. The first time Lucas met Duff, he hit him in the head. Then, he get's really jealous and sad when Hazel holds Duff. He (and Robert) had a lil fur fit when she tried to put Duff in her baby hawk. (So I figured it out. Yay!). The last time they hung out at the mall, Lucas went straight for Duff's soft spot. But we know deep down inside, they love eachother and they'll end up bffs. Here are some pictures Hazel and I took of the two this summer.

Duff is probably two weeks old in this one. This one's from early August.Labor Day weekend at Del Amo Mall. Duff is probably 10 weeks.

Kick the baby!

When I found out I was having a boy, I actually hoped the baby would look like Ike from South Park. I don't know but I just think he's super cute and I really like him. Well, as you can see, Duff really likes him too--maybe a little too much. I just wanted Duff to hold Ike. I didn't think he was going to try to eat him.

Stuff on my baby

We think it's totally fun to put things on Duff and take pictures. The idea to get a series of photos came from the book "Stuff on my Cat." I would love to link to amazon so you could see the book, but unfortunately, I don't know how to do that yet.
But once I learn, watch out cuz I will go hyperlink crazy.

So robert lobo told us about tay zonday, the guy that sings "chocolate rain." all i have to say about that is: very interesting, very repetitive. anyways, i like his song "internet dream" because i can relate to his mom.
